«Dongfeng» presented two four-wheel drive cars with a capacity of more than 1000 hp

China's third-largest automaker, Dongfeng, has launched a luxury off-road brand called «Mengshi» (Warrior) and unveiled a pair of fancy 1,000-horsepower 4WD SUVs.
Dongfeng has committed to bringing to market at least one model per year starting in 2023 at a 2 square kilometer factory already under construction. While production is still pending, the «Mengshi» brand has shown a new and promising chassis that will form the basis of its first cars. The battery under the floor has a capacity of 140 kWh, which gives a range of about 500 km. The range will also include hybrid versions with an extended range and a power reserve of up to 800 km.

The chassis will be fully electronic because «Mengshi» plans to switch its vehicles to autonomous mode as soon as possible. It would be a bit of a shame if these cars go self-driving, as the four engines, with a combined output of 800 kW (1,073 hp) and over 16,000 Nm of torque, are likely to be better appreciated by a human driver than by a robot.

Another notable benefit of this chassis is the rear wheel steering which helps these vehicles achieve a reasonably tight 5.1m turning circle. expensive. The Level 3 autonomous driving system features multiple electronic «differential locks» as well as electronically controlled air suspension and an intelligent road recognition system that includes conventional and night vision cameras.
