American car collector Bruce Weiner has put up for auction a dragster based on a 1959 BMW Isetta three-wheeled compact car. The model is equipped with a 740 strong V-shaped «eight» Chevrolet with a mechanical supercharger, the volume of which is 8.2 liters. All the power and torque of the motor is transmitted to a single rear wheel. The exact dynamic characteristics of the car and the time of passage of the drag line are not specified. The power unit, which works together with a two-speed manual gearbox, is located on a special frame made of round pipes. This design is crowned by a large wing. The suspension for the car was taken from the BMW M3, and special brakes were provided by AP Racing. In addition, to ensure the safety of the driver, Isetta received a quick-release steering wheel.
The Isetta is fitted with BF Goodrich G-Force tires at the front and a Sumitomo HTRZ II tire at the exclusive 18-inch rear.
The car is fully functional, but it can only be used at special shows, as it is not certified for public roads.
In 2005, when Wener started building the dragster, the car's owner wanted to make a replica of a 2000 Hot Wheels collectible toy model that bore serial number 213 of the Whatta Drag series. As a result, the collector managed to achieve accurate detailing of many elements of the car. In particular, the rear wheel belt cover, the rear wing and the tubular frame of its attachment turned out to be identical.
