Bowler made a rally car from the Land Rover Defender 90
Bowler Motors, a division of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, has long been known for its JLR-based rally cars.
The company's latest project is the Land Rover Defender 90 for the Bowler Defender Challenge racing series.The rally Defender is based on a short-wheelbase version of the 90 with a 2.0-litre, 300-horsepower turbocharged Ingenium petrol engine. The car has increased ground clearance and a modified underbody, and is also equipped with many additional elements, such as a roll cage, gear shift paddles and heavy-duty 18-inch rally wheels.
The front and rear subframes have been modified with additional mounts required for suspension with new customizations. The suspension, developed in collaboration with Fox, increased ground clearance by 25mm.
The Bowler Defender Challenge monoseries will start in 2022 and will include seven rounds across the UK. 12 teams will compete.
The Bowler Defender Challenge rally car will make its public debut at the 400km stage of the Iceland Hill Rally on August 6-8. The entry price for the Challenge 2022 is £99,500. The amount includes a Bowler-prepared Defender Challenge car, admission to the series starting in March, and organization of the races. For an additional fee, you can get training, transportation and technical support for cars.
