Even the day before, Valtteri Bottas took 2nd place, but through no fault of his own. His team-mate Lewis Hamilton started from pole, for which he received a penalty.

After taking the lead on the first lap, Bottas was able to keep him until the finish line. As a result, he won his first race in 2021, the tenth of his career.

Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen finished second, and his teammate Sergio Perez was third. Also in the top five were Charles Leclerc (Ferrarri) and Lewis Hamilton, who missed their chances of winning due to a late tire change.

The only Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, participating in the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix for the Haas team, finished 20th, i.e. last.
